“I am a 68 year old grandmother and guardian of a soon to be 13 year old granddaughter who has severe ADHD and Dyslexia.  She is a child with major anger and attitude problems and knows exactly how to push my buttons and make be totally loose it quite often.  I needed help but am not a person who does well in group settings so was fortunate enough to find C.O.P.E. and a fantastic person, Dr. Dorothy Powell, with whom I was able to take weekly one-on-one anger management training classes. I can’t say enough good things about both C.O.P.E and Dr. Powell but I feel people should know what a God Sent you were and are for me.

I have learned to keep my anger in check and found new ways to express what needs to be said more softly and effectively.  Dr. Powell was able to pull out of me the things I kept closed up inside and helped me see my granddaughter as a “work-in-progress” rather than a trouble maker whom I wanted to mold into what I wanted her to be.  Please tell whomever keeps track of status reports on how your services, staff and Dr. Dorothy Powell are doing that, in my opinion, all of you, from the receptionist all the way to management and, of course, Dr. Powell are top-notch, extremely  professional yet friendly,  courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and all around wonderful people. I truly believe that had it not been for all of you at C.O.P.E.

I might have given up guardianship of one of the most precious gifts I have in my life. Thank you for being there in my time of need and for your willingness to talk with me should I need help in the future.  God Bless each and everyone of you and keep up the good work and fantastic job you do for all of us in need.”

“Triple P made me more aware of how I parent my children. It has given me more tools of how to handle stressful situations with my children.”

“I really appreciate the strategies shared with us about why children behave as they do. I feel it was beneficial to use the preventative strategies to help create a positive environment and relationship with my children. Thanks for the class!”

“The program helped me to become a better parent to my precious daughter. The idea of changing the way I communicate with her helps a lot. Although I know in the future, I will face more challenges with her, I know the Pyramid of Strategies will continue to remind me of the program.”

“What was most helpful about this program was getting to know my child and myself, and learning new ways to be a better Dad. Now I have better skills to work with my child. Thank you for changing my life as a person.”

“Triple P helped to serve as a weekly reminder on remaining calm and not letting my child see when he is pushing my buttons. Triple P also helped me be more positive.”

Parents of Delta First 5,

“Giving us the chance to see real life situations and discussing them in a group environment. Seeing examples helped me to see the things I can do differently in the near future. He is in his formative years and is like a sponge and this helped to see good examples to teach. Great stuff liked this program a lot.”

I learned how to be specific with the instructions, to speak without screaming, to get on my child’s level and to be firm with consequences.”
